Our next-generation Point of Sale (POS) system and software platform helps businesses grow while fostering connections between merchants and customers.
For too long, retailers haven’t had access to the technology that has transformed the lives of their consumers. Leapset is here to change that. At its core, Leapset is an open platform that can run on a variety of hardware and enables 3rd party developers to create custom apps based on a business’s needs. We are continually evolving and improving our product to prepare retail businesses to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
Leapset is based in Redwood City, California with a sister office in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Leapset team comes from Consumer Internet and Financial Services companies such as Yahoo!,
Google, Apple, Citibank and JPMorgan Chase. In a prior life, many of us worked together at Monvia—a
technology incubator that built products for companies such as Chase, Citigroup, Yahoo!, Deluxe and AOL. A few of our notable
accomplishments include making Yahoo! Finance the #1 finance site in the world, founding Virtusa (Nasdaq: VRTU) and building the London
Stock Exchange platform.
Mani runs the show at Leapset and the buck stops in his tiny, shared, corner office. Mani has a BSc in Engineering from Tulane and an MBA from Vanderbilt. His past roles include Founder of Monvia, Head of Business Development at Yahoo! Finance and Head of Product at Yahoo! PayDirect, Co-Founder at CrossFunds and VP at Citigroup e-Citi. Mani would gladly wait on line at Heimerhaus for his favorite sandwich, the Flip Wilson. But since they’re a Leapset restaurant he doesn’t have to.
A veritable walking Wikipedia, Jim leads our super-creative product and design team. Jim has a BSc in Science, Technology and International Affairs from Georgetown University. Prior to Leapset he led the Yahoo! Finance product team and helped double its size every year for seven years. He is also a recovering Wall Street stiff having worked at Chase Manhattan and Rothschild North America. At least once a week, Jim heads to La Azteca and refuels with a shrimp burrito—because Norcal-style burritos are hella awesome.
Paul has the toughest job at Leapset. While the rest of us get to come up with game-changing ideas, he is the guy who gets to build them. Paul has a BS in Computer Science from UC Santa Barbara. Paul cut his teeth developing scientific visualization software at NASA and led dev teams at Linden Lab, Yahoo! Strategic Data Solutions and Yahoo! PayDirect. Despite Paul’s “complaints” about the overly large sandwiches at Mr. Pickles, he manages to down a Slickster without much trouble.
Jorn is responsible for editing this “About Us” page, providing us with Leapset branded t-shirts and leading the team that makes the money that helps pay for everything else. Jorn earned his BSc from the London School of Economics and MBA/MS from Boston University. He is good at this whole marketing and selling thing, having done it for almost a decade at half a dozen different Yahoo! properties. When Jorn is homesick for his native Germany, he heads to Angelica’s Bistro for a Spaten Llager (and a Works Burger).
Ned wanders the unknown regions between the muscle bound sales department and the propeller heads in engineering looking for ways to make Leapset a ginormous success. After leaving Yahoo (the good old version) he proved he is a glutton for punishment by doing his own startup before landing with us. Ned managed to eek out a BA in economics from Conn College and an MBA from Babson.
Shanil is the master of getting stuff done. He sets the pace and makes sure everyone is working in tandem. Shanil has a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Warwick. Before Leapset, Shanil only had one job, but boy was it a big one. He was a founding member of Virtusa where he built a global delivery organization starting with just eight developers, growing it to over 4,000 and ultimately taking the company public on Nasdaq. Shanil’s favorite place to grab lunch? Any sushi restaurant with fresh Toro and extra wasabi.
